What a week! This whole @twitcoast #burgerweek business came through like a hurricane. We typically do about 50lbs of beef a day and we have been pushing 140lbs. It's been madness! We would fill our board with chits (see pic) before noon and it would stay like this until we ran out and shut down for the night. That being said we need to THANK the staff of Ace for pumping out 2500 burgers and doing it with a SMILE. What an amazing bunch! Everybody knew how important it was to put our best foot forward and introduce Ace Burger to a whole slew of new customers. That being said, I think we made a lot of people happy over the last few days, and it's going to be a BUSY summer!
Speaking of a lot of people... Ace no doubt has the best customers in the city! So many people came by to support us. People were coming in and waiting over an hour for a burger. Having to sit in the VLT room or on Gus' stage and still leaving psyched and thankful for "the best burger ever". We are so grateful to everybody who came into a lineup and were patient with us and their fellow customers as we pumped out as many #deluxe burgers as is humanly possible. It's crazy how many tweets and instagram photos we saw from people loving the whole chaotic experience that was #burgerweek. THANK YOU to our AMAZING customers! We do love you!
A special thanks goes out to Gus’ Pub and their staff for an amazing space to do business. The North End is buzzing with new places to eat and shop, from The Hydrostone to Gottingen & Cogswell. The Corner of North & Agricola is the epicentre of what’s coming next!
So where did all this meat come from? Chris Dewall from @GetawayFarm and their butcher Ben Andrews from @MeatMongers in the Seaport Farmers' Market HUSTLED hard for us this week. THANKS to their team for ensuring that we had enough beef to stay open through the rushes. This amazing family run farm worked OVERTIME to make sure Halifax got their grass-fed beef fix. HATS OFF.
I always knew we were going to align our businesses with The Coast readership. We know it's a more conscious consumer group that will 'get' what we are trying to do with our businesses. When The Coast approached us with the #burgerweek concept we were SOLD. We knew that this event would hype the whole burger frenzy up to a fever pitch. But, I gotta say, we were wrong about our expectations. These past 7 days were WAY BUSIER than we envisioned. The Coast did an incredible job of getting the word out and making this a fun event to participate in. We had customers asking us days in advance about #burgerweek. The city was HYPED. To me it shows The Coast's dedication to supporting the BUY LOCAL cause and putting independent small businesses in the limelight for all to notice. Moreover I know for a fact, that the staff of The Coast are always trying to do something unique for the people of our city. Initiatives like this create awareness and help to enrich the culture of our city. A BIG THANK YOU to the staff of The Coast for that, AND helping to ring the registers in the cold month of March.
So again, thank you to ALL who participated in #burgerweek. And we wish our fellow burger joints a busy spring & summer!
